UK for UNHCR is the United Nations Refugee Agency’s national charity partner. We generate public awareness of the plight of refugees and raise funds to help protect them through UNHCR’s humanitarian operations across the world. UK for UNHCR career opportunities

Senior Philanthropy Officer

20.06.22 – We’re looking for an ambitious and proactive Senior Philanthropy Officer to join the Private Partnerships & Philanthropy team. You will be joining the charity at an exciting moment, becoming part of a small but high performing team with big ambitions.

This exciting role will be integral to the development of our Trusts and Foundations Programme, which has grown significantly in recent months. You’ll be passionate about the refugee cause and UK for UNHCR’s role in supporting refugees around the globe.

This role will manage its own portfolio of trusts and foundations and will play a key role in supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager on the engagement and stewardship of our high-level partnerships, as well as supporting on the delivery of a high-quality supporter experience.

Trainee

20.06.22 – We’re looking for a person with lived experience of being a refugee, asylum-seeker, internally displaced or stateless person to join our first ever Traineeship programme! The programme will be a 6-month paid placement that serves to equip you with a wide range of valuable work skills whether you are just beginning your career or transitioning.

The Traineeship will be lightly structured to work across different teams including Finance, Corporate, Communications, Fundraising, Strategy and Data, with the option of specialising in one area of your choice from month three. The programme will include training on MS Office, research, communication, data and administration skills and provide an opportunity for you to support the teams with a variety of tasks. The Traineeship programme will be built together with you as you explore your interests and assess your skill set. You will also be assigned a mentor and be provided with personalised support throughout!

Trusts & Foundations Manager – Maternity Cover (up to 1 year) 4 days per week

09.06.22 – We’re looking for a maternity cover for our Trust & Foundation Manager. Passionate about the refugee cause and UNHCR’s contribution, the role is involved in the identification, cultivation and stewardship of trust & foundation donors.

You will join our small but high performing Major Donor & Trusts team playing a key part in stewarding some established relationships as well as more recent donors generated through high profile emergencies such as Afghanistan and Ukraine.

You will work closely with the Head of Major Donors & Trusts, CEO and trustees and international colleagues. As well as experience of trust & foundation fundraising, you will be confident in navigating complex environments with many stakeholders, of negotiating and working across teams. You will enjoy developing strong relationships and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will be adept in manging prospect pipelines and in crafting a compelling case for support and able to communicate this in a thoughtful and engaging way.

Finance Manager

07.06.22 – We are looking for a proactive team player with drive and enthusiasm to support stakeholders across the organisation and keen to play an active role in a small team providing a high-quality finance service. You will oversee UK for UNHCR’s transaction processing function ensuring that finance systems and processes are robust and efficient, funding is safely stewarded and support the annual audit process. You will support the Finance Director in ensuring the effective use of the finance system including related processes and accounting structures, and by pro-actively identifying ways to optimise these.

We have exciting organisational goals in our new 5-year strategy, as well as within the Finance team. This is an opportunity to shape how we improve the quality of our financial information, making the best use of technology to drive efficiency and add value to our stakeholders. Finance Officer

07.06.22 – You will support the finance team in the delivery of a comprehensive transaction processing function by providing professional accounting, reconciliation and administrative support service and specifically in managing the purchase ledger, processing & reconciling income and in ensuring finance processes are robust and efficient.
