UK for UNHCR’s partnership with global law firm DLA Piper launched in June 2022, cementing a decade-long relationship with UNHCR.

The three-year partnership will see DLA Piper provide their expertise and funding in support of some of UNHCR’s most innovative work. This includes the Refugee Environmental Protection Fund, a pioneering sustainable financing mechanism which aims to accelerate UNHCR’s reforestation and clean cooking programmes, generating verified carbon credits. DLA Piper and UK for UNHCR will also work together to advocate for the protection of refugee rights.

The firm has already provided pro bono legal support valued at over $3 million to UNHCR and, through this partnership, have pledged further pro bono support worth over $3.7 million over the next three years.

This exciting partnership means we can amplify our work to protect the rights of displaced people globally. The partnership will involve innovative approaches to long-term issues that we hope will lead to positive and lasting change. At this crucial time our firm is excited to be collaborating with an organisation that is focused on building a better future for refugees.
